Jacob Chen

Commencing his musical journey at the age of four, Jacob has dedicated nearly two decades to the mastery of piano performance. Over the course of his journey, he has had the privilege of learning from a diverse array of esteemed music instructors, thereby gaining exposure to various pedagogical methodologies. One notable mentor was Ms. Yeeling Wu, a distinguished Vancouver-based pianist renowned for cultivating students with unprecedented performance scores and setting new national records in competitions and examinations.

Drawing from the rich tapestry of knowledge imparted by multiple mentors, Jacob has developed his own distinctive teaching style, amalgamating the most effective techniques and practice regimens he has encountered. His teaching philosophy centers on crafting personalized practice plans, attuned to the unique aspirations and proficiencies of each student, to ensure a student-centric educational experience.

Under the guidance of his teachers, Jacob was able to obtain the Associate Diploma of the Royal Conservatory of Music (ARCT) in Piano Performance by the age of fifteen. Jacob started competing at the age of ten, leading him to actively partake in numerous music festivals throughout the province; he has found success and achieved first place in every competition he has participated. In 2014, Jacob competed in the Canadian Music Competition, one of the nation’s most prestigious music competitions. He became a national finalist after qualifying as one of the top two piano performers in British Columbia.
